If you’re willing to venture a little further out for your haunt fix this Valentine’s Weekend, I’ve found a destination that absolutely belongs on your list. I headed out to Yucaipa for media night at Black Casket’s “Till Death,” and I can tell you right now—this is the kind of high-quality, immersive experience that makes a little extra time behind the wheel totally worth it.

What struck me immediately is that Till Death isn’t your standard “conga line” haunt. It leans heavily into immersive theater, turning you into an active participant in a tragic, centuries-old story. Instead of just walking through and observing, you’re engaging directly with the characters who inhabit this cursed manor.
The flow isn’t just a simple forward line; it’s dynamic, interactive, and—be warned—the actors will touch you. That physical engagement adds a layer of vulnerability that pulled me right into the narrative.

The story centers on two lovers who chose damnation over separation, cursing their estate into a frozen, bloodstained sanctuary of hunger. The vampire theme is handled with such style; the set design is incredible, featuring candlelit halls and crypts that feel heavy with history. Every room tells a piece of their story, making the approximately 15-minute experience feel incredibly rich and substantial.
I’ll be the first to admit: it takes a lot to truly rattle me, but Black Casket managed to get me—and get me good. There were three or four moments where I screamed at the top of my lungs, and at one point, I nearly ended up on the floor! The scares are smart, perfectly timed, and woven naturally into the interactive scenes.

Till Death is a beautifully dark reminder of why I love this community. It’s creative, high-energy, fog-filled and deeply atmospheric. While it’s a bit of a drive for the OC and LA crowd, the level of immersion and the quality of the storytelling make it a standout “destination haunt.”
If you’re tired of the same old jump scares and want an experience that feels like stepping into a dark Victorian horror novel, make the trip. Just try to keep your wits about you—the lovers in this house are very, very hungry.
