If you’re looking for a family-friendly Halloween adventure that’s more “prehistoric fun” than “fear-filled fright,” Jurassic Fright at Hana Field in Costa Mesa is a fantastic choice! I had so much fun exploring this dino-themed experience, and it’s a perfect seasonal outing for families or anyone who loves a creative twist on the classic corn maze.
The Jurassic Fright corn maze is not just one straight path, there are multiple routes to choose from as you wander through the towering corn stalks. I definitely recommend finding the map as you go in so you can make sure to see all the different themed scenes hidden throughout the maze.

Each section features animatronic dinosaurs that move, roar, and even blink! I was really impressed by the level of detail! The dinosaurs look great, and the movement adds a lot of life to each scene. The sounds help create a fun, immersive atmosphere without being too loud or scary, which makes it great for kids and dino-loving adults alike.
There are also plenty of photo ops, including one where you can “hatch” from a giant dinosaur egg, a must for social media!

Since Hana Field closes before dark, you’ll be doing the maze in daylight, which actually works perfectly here. It lets you really take in all the vibrant details and makes the whole experience feel bright, cheerful, and family-focused rather than spooky.
After you’ve made your way through the maze, you can enjoy other fall activities around Hana Field like sunflower picking, visiting the petting zoo, and choosing a pumpkin to purchase. It’s an ideal mix of autumn fun and prehistoric excitement.

Overall, Jurassic Fright is a creative, charming, and surprisingly detailed attraction that’s perfect for families or anyone looking for a unique Halloween experience in Orange County. I had a wonderful time and was genuinely impressed with the event.
