Twice Upon A Time’s A Halloween Carol is a hauntingly delicate waltz between the living and the spirit world. Conceived by writer-director Lawrence Meyers, the experience is an intimate journey created through storytelling and the superb performances of the skilled cast.

To fully unlock the show’s potential, you must allow yourself to be entirely open and honest with the actors and yourself. You occupy the same position within the storytelling as the Scrooge role in The Christmas Carol, confronting the ghosts of Halloween Past, Present, and Future. This makes you the focal point of the journey.
The cast’s exceptional improvisational and listening skills create a nurturing space, where they gently guide your emotional narrative. They give such seamless performances between the writing and the genuine reactions to your responses that it becomes a shared act of creation, resulting in a beautiful masterpiece inspired by you. From Zoe Kasch’s ability to break my heart wide open to Aaron Fors’ soft gaze making me feel so vulnerable I started questioning if anyone had ever truly looked at me before, each cast member brings something special to the experience. The performance acts as a sculpture of raw clay, where they guide you to shape and infuse it with the rich colors of your personal history.
You are guided through the space over the evening. There is no “stage” and no fourth wall, but they built a lovely set inside the DTLA space. Keep in mind that traffic and parking downtown can be unpredictable, so leave extra time as the show has a rather strict schedule to accommodate small groups of one or two guests per show.

A Halloween Carol is not jump scares and spectacle, it’s the kind of show that changes you. If you are willing to show up as yourself and let a small cast of actors meet you there and explore the human experience through beautiful art, it will do something to you.

Thank you to Twice Upon A Time for having me out, and to Lawrence Meyers and the cast for making something this personal. I was blown away.
