My Night with the Swashbuckling Vampires of Pirates Dinner Adventure (review)

Vampirates at Pirates Dinner Adventure in Buena Park California offers an entertaining blend of Halloween flair and classic stunt theater. The spooky season overlay returns this year with the same high-energy production and fun.

Pirates onstage

This show stands out due to the dedication of the performers. Despite the intentionally campy and exaggerated premise of pirate-vampires, the cast does a remarkable job of keeping their performances grounded. The dialogue and character relationships feel authentic, giving the audience a strong sense that this tight-knit ensemble of talented artists genuinely enjoys working together.

During a recent media night visit seated in the Purple Section, our assigned Vampirate, “The Saxon,” delivered an exceptional, energetic performance, frequently interacting with guests and maintaining high engagement throughout the evening.

Beyond the acting, the technical spectacle remains a highlight. The multi-level pirate ship set, atmospheric lighting, and aerial acrobatics create an elaborate environment. The experience includes a full meal served during the performance; the media night menu featured roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, a side salad, and cake for dessert with a vegetarian pasta option available upon request.

Two pirates by stage

Vampirates is a unique event for all ages, delivering seasonal atmosphere and swashbuckling entertainment without relying on traditional haunt scares. It is a great choice for families, large groups of friends, or even a unique date night in Orange County.
