Spooky season is here and by this weekend most of the larger Halloween attractions will be open. Here are my recommendations for the weekend of September 20th:
CREEPIE AFTERMATH is the biggest spooky themed convention in Southern California this Halloween Season at the Ontario Convention Center. This weekend only; September 20th : 5pm – 10pm Saturday, September 21st : 11am-7pm and Sunday, September 22nd : 11am-6pm.

Thrill seekers it’s time!!! Several theme park haunts are open including one of my favorites KNOTT’S SCARY FARM the longest-running Halloween theme park event in Southern California. With over 50 years of nightmares, unimaginable scares and innovative thrills, Knott’s Scary Farm has left no tomb unearthed, no crypt un-rattled and no fear untouched. Not only are the mazes and scare zones superb, you can ride roller coasters, see live entertainment, eat delicious themed treats and more. (You might even see Elvira.) If you’re in the Riverside area be sure to hit up CASTLE DARK where the night crawls with spine-tingling terror and chilling delights! Immerse yourself in an eerie atmosphere, where lurking horrors and unexpected scares await around every corner. Halloween Horror Nights is also a beautifully designed event where you basically walk through Hollywood quality movie sets with several actors around every corner and boo hole.
If you want to start your season with a more traditional haunted attraction LOS ANGELES HAUNTED HAYRIDE is the prefect event for that. New this year to the world-famous haunted hayride icon Janelle Monáe is having a legendary party and you’re invited. Step into the Monáe Manor where it’s Halloween every night and things aren’t quite what they seem.
I’m probably most excited this year that DARK HARBOR is BACK at the historic Queen Mary for 2024!!! This fall, as the fog rolls in on Long Beach, the notoriously haunted Queen Mary brings back the legendary Dark Harbor Halloween event. It’s always incredible to be aboard the Queen Mary ship, but it’s even more special to be frightened by the ships ghostly crew.

If you’d prefer something more immersive with smaller crowds and a theatrical story DELUSION is an epic and haunting adventure for those willing to play their part in the latest interactive play. If you want something a little smaller budget, but immersive and unique check out DARK DARK RIDE RIDE at Zombie Joe’s theatre. For an interactive, immersive fun time that is more spooky than scary I highly recommend BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE THE AFTERLIFE EXPERIENCE. You can explore the Neitherworld at your own pace and interact with the sets and characters while enjoying a drink.
If you’re looking for family fun Halloweentime at Disneyland has been open since August and Oogie Boogie Bash is already sold out but MAGIC OF THE JACKOLANTERNS will be opening this weekend in South El Monte. It’s a magical experience filled with captivating pumpkin carvings, live entertainment, and activities for all ages. BOB BAKER MARIONETTE’S is also always a fun time. LIVE OAK CANYON is one of my favorite pumpkin patches with lots of activities for the kids. Brick or Treat at Legoland is an option if you are near the San Diego area.

For those that want a more legitimate haunting experience THE GREY GHOST PROJECT is an incredibly interesting adventure aboard the Queen Mary with a guide that helps you communicate with the ship’s actual spirits through many paranormal investigation tools. Rebecca is a knowledgeable and skeptical investigator that leads groups around the ship for approximately three hours in hopes of communicating with the dead.
👻 Whatever you decide to do this weekend, have a fun time! You can always tell when I’m having fun because of my laugh.
