L.A. Playwright/Director Michael Sargent emerged from John Steppling’s writing workshop as a teenaged playwright in the 80’s and has been part of the L.A. arts scene ever since. He had a string of hits over the decades at the CAST THEATRE, THEATER/THEATRE, ACTOR’S GANG, EVIDENCE ROOM, UNKNOWN THEATRE, TAPER NEW WORKS FESTIVAL, KIRK DOUGLAS THEATER, ZOMBIE JOE’S UNDERGROUND THEATRE, and others. Recent work includes workshops of “DEVILS IN AMERICA”, his 4-play epic at the ODYSSEY & “THE LAST 90 MINUTES” starring Marcia Gay Harden presented by Jessica Goldberg and the SPLINTER GROUP. The movie version of Sargent’s play “I HATE!” will debut this fall. Fans of Sargent’s work will recognize BRAD LEWIS from Sargent’s “THE BLACK HOLE” at ZJU, JACQUELINE WRIGHT from Sargent’s “CONTROL ME” at UNKNOWN THEATRE, & BRIAN NEWKIRK from Sargent’s “NAKED CAME THE NEIGHBOR” at ZJU.
