Thanksgiving Day can be a strange one for those of us who don’t necessarily spend the entire day cooking or glued to football. Maybe you’re looking to get out of the house for a few hours, maybe you’ve got family in town who are climbing the walls, or maybe you just want something fun to do that doesn’t involve more mashed potatoes.
If you’re in that boat today, here are a few great experiences that are open on Thanksgiving and absolutely worth checking out.
Play an Escape Room
There are several open today but I’m highlighting the one here that really impressed me recently. Maze Rooms just opened a brand-new escape adventure called Twisted Matrix and it’s the perfect choice if you’re craving something a little more intense than turkey and pie. I played it before it opened to the public and was thoroughly impressed with the set design, puzzles, flow and unique storytelling. I highly recommend it!
Think puzzle-solving, world-bending challenges, and that signature Maze Rooms level of immersion. If you’re into futuristic tech themes or you’ve always believed you would take the red pill, this one is a blast. It’s also a great option for small groups—friends, family, or anyone you want to impress with your ability to think under pressure.

Sandbox VR
The new Stranger Things Experience is now open!
Sandbox VR has been rolling out some seriously cool titles lately.
If you’ve ever wanted to step inside the Upside Down without, you know, actually risking being eaten by a Demogorgon, this is your chance.
They also have Deadwood PHOBIA, a sequel to Deadwood Valley, which has generated over $52M in ticket sales, becoming one of the best-selling VR titles of all time. This experience marks the third installment in Sandbox VR’s iconic Deadwood zombie franchise and takes players into a derelict medical facility crawling with unprecedented, mind-bending horrors. Blurring the line between reality and VR, the experience surrounds players in 360° nightmares, where nothing is as it seems, and their deepest fears come to life.

Astra Lumina – Enchanted Night Walk Amongst the Stars
If you’re not in the mood for solving puzzles or fighting monsters, here’s something more relaxing and absolutely beautiful. Astra Lumina is open tonight, and honestly, it’s the kind of experience that feels magical no matter how many times you go. I had a wonderful, relaxing date night here recently.
It’s a peaceful, luminous night walk filled with glowing pathways, celestial projections, and a dreamy atmosphere. If you need a moment to unwind, breathe in the cool night air, and escape into something soothing and otherworldly, this is the perfect Thanksgiving outing.
