Set Sail to Neverland this November! Equal parts pirate speakeasy, variety show, & immersive theater, “Second Star” promises to satisfy your grown-up tastes and reignite your childlike wonder.
Wendy Darling grew up, but Neverland kept calling! She searched the seven seas and finally found her way back to its magical shores. Now she’s captain of the Second Star, secretly ferrying passengers to Neverland and back, and you’re invited to join her!
Captain Wendy Darling (Rachel Felstein), who you know and love from the classic tale, and her first mate David (Nate Weingarden), the great great great great great grand nephew of Peter Pan, will be your guides for this adventure! Your first stop is a visit to Smee (Tori Boutin), who since Captain Hook’s death has reinvented themselves as the host of Neverland’s most notorious cabaret. Along the way, we’ll also meet the Lost One (Sarah Ryan), who seeks a new home after being kicked out by Peter for being a girl.
The lineup at Smee’s features a variety of stellar acts: a time-hungry crocodile (drag, Mildew), a senile pirate (mask, Paloma Esparza Rabinov), a fed-up fairy (musical comedy, Georgia Warner), a pirate queen (drag, Mylique E. Fawcett), a Tigerlily flower (dance, Frankie Tan), and a sexy siren (burlesque, Elisa Rosin).
The experience is split into two parts, which you can think of as two back-to-back episodes of the same story that can be enjoyed individually or together. Part 1: Facing the Storm is from 8:00-9:00pm, and Part 2: Remembering to Fly is from 9:30-10:30pm.
This is the Los Angeles debut for immersive theater company, Ruse, previously based in NYC. Ruse invites you to not just see the story… but LIVE it! Their range of work includes live immersive theater, dining experiences, social media theater, XR, and even opera! No matter the medium, Ruse’s work invites you to play an active role in your experience. But don’t worry! You won’t be put on the spot. Participation for Second Star is encouraged, but not required.
