As Halloween approaches, families are eager to explore the best neighborhoods for trick-or-treating and Halloween yard displays. From spooky decorations to generous candy handouts, Los Angeles and Orange County offer a wide range of exciting and family-friendly destinations. Here are the best neighborhoods to visit this Halloween season.
Toluca Lake
Toluca Lake is the ultimate Halloween destination in Los Angeles. This charming neighborhood, once home to Bob Hope, continues to uphold its tradition of lively Halloween spirit. Residents go all out with elaborate decorations and some pass out full-size candy bars to trick-or-treaters. With its picturesque streets and generous residents, Toluca Lake is a must-visit for a spooktacular Halloween experience.
Burbank
Burbank’s residential areas transform into a Halloween wonderland. Expect to find elaborate yard displays, interactive haunted houses, and generous candy handouts. Burbank’s Halloween festivities attract thousands of visitors each year, making it one of the most popular trick-or-treating destinations in LA. I know at least one of the homes that goes all out has been featured on the Great Light Fight.
Whittier
Whittier’s historic neighborhoods, such as Central Park and Uptown, offer a charming Halloween experience. Victorian homes are adorned with spooky decorations, and tree-lined streets provide the perfect setting for trick-or-treating. Community events and haunted attractions add to the festive atmosphere, making Whittier a top choice for families this spooky season.

Old Town Orange
Old Town Orange’s quaint streets and historic homes create a perfect Halloween setting. Festive decorations and window displays, trick-or-treating at local businesses and residences, and visiting the iconic Orange Circle are just a few highlights. Some of the roads will be closed for foot traffic on Halloween. Most of the houses between addresses 300-600 Palmyra are decorated but Dragon Manor at 552 E Palmyra is stand out! This family-friendly neighborhood is ideal for young trick-or-treaters.
Los Alamitos
Los Alamitos’ suburban neighborhoods feature family-friendly trick-or-treating, creative yard displays, and haunted houses. Residents take pride in their Halloween decorations and compete for the title of best decorated yard, making Los Alamitos a popular destination for spooky fun.
Santa Clarita
The Santa Clarita neighborhood is a hidden gem for Halloween enthusiasts. This community boasts spooktacular yard displays, generous candy giveaways, and a lively, family-friendly atmosphere. A local home haunt located at 23935 Bar Harbor Ct allows for a spooky adventure. With its convenient location and welcoming residents, Santa Clarita’s is a must-visit for trick-or-treaters.
Riverside
Riverside offers several standout Halloween neighborhoods. Visit the Reichland Asylum home haunt at 3980 Bandini Ave for a terrifying experience. For a more family-friendly activity, head to Bellamy Place Lights (5089 Bellamy Place), a spectacular holiday light display that kicks off on Halloween night. Many of the neighborhoods go all out for the holiday.
La Habra & Historic Floral Park are both neighborhoods with amazing yards and great trick or treating. We ended up skipping La Habra because of the parking being all the way up the hill by the time we arrived but saw some amazing displays on Halloween night in Floral Park. They have the winning addresses of the yard decor contest on their community website.

As the sun sets on Halloween evening, grab your costumes, bags, and flashlights, and head out to these top neighborhoods for an unforgettable night of trick-or-treating and Halloween fun.
Remember to check neighborhood trick-or-treating hours and guidelines, respect residents’ properties and decorations, and accompany children while trick-or-treating.
Happy Halloween!
