Castle Dark Review

Castle Dark, the annual Halloween event at Castle Park theme park in Riverside, has made a name for itself its as a top haunted attraction. The energetic actors portraying scary characters throughout the park have a clear passion for scaring guests. The guest that attended the night I was there were also clearly happy to be scared. All around the energy was amazing!

Mazes:

  1. Funhouse of the Demented: Clown chaos reigns supreme in this overrun correctional facility. I laughed. I screamed. I went through it again.
  2. Seance: I especially loved having candles in our hands to guide the way, and the experience with the spirit board.
  3. Labyrinth: Navigate winding corridors taunted by Lost Souls in Castle Dark’s largest maze was a disorienting spooky journey. It’s rare to find an actual maze at a haunted attraction where you can get lost and make wrong turns.
  4. Sinister Inn VR: Experience 5D VR terror in a haunted hotel. I did not do the VR experience because of personal health reasons.

Shows:

  1. Countess Elura: Countess Elura in an all-new spectacle of comedy and dance
  2. Sliders of the Kingdom: slider shows are always a good time
  3. Lady Lou Tea Time: Lady Lou has the tea

Scare Zones:

  1. Midway Breakout: Confront malevolent clowns dominating the night.
  2. Dark Lands: Explore fog-shrouded outskirts, beware of Lord Amethyst and Sir Sardonyx.

Highlights:

  • Electric energy and camaraderie among cast members
  • Lady Lou won me over at Midsummer Scream and was a highlight for me at the park
  • Interactions with scare actors in Midway Breakout and Dark Lands

Tips:

  • Arrive early to experience all mazes and shows.
  • Explore scare zones for unexpected frights.
  • Don’t miss Lady Lou Tea Time’s dark humor.

Castle Dark 2024 is an unforgettable night of fear and fun. With its passionate cast, fun mazes, and thrilling rides, this event is a special Halloween gem.
