The House of Spirits at The Labu’Tique Shop: Anaheim’s Spooky Community Haunt

If you have driven down Lemon Street lately, you have probably seen The Labu’Tique Shop, the Anaheim storefront that became a local favorite for viral NeeDohs, mystery dumplings, and every trendy collectible your feed keeps showing you. Every Halloween, owner Nick Mendoza III transforms the shop into a neighborhood haunted house, and this year’s theme is The House of Spirits.

Nick is a Marine veteran who launched Bands for Arms back in 2010 alongside two volunteers from his platoon and a box of donated uniforms. He turned those uniforms into handmade bracelets for military families, donating half the proceeds to organizations that support service members, while mentoring hundreds of Marines along the way. The Lemon Street shop grew out of that mission, and he continues to host free themed pop-ups for the community year-round, from Grinchmas to Valentine’s Day. He is truly someone who builds and creates for the people around him and this haunted pop-up is a prime example.

At the preview night, live actors jumped out as we navigated the maze before heading inside the shop. With the maze and sliders out front, it has the welcoming feel of a true neighborhood block event. It’s scary, but balanced. Most kids can easily handle it, though very little ones might want to sit this one out.
