Club Fear Twisted Manor is my favorite home haunt of 2019. I always enjoy a good home haunt and there are several in SoCal, a few in Santa Clarita even, but these clowns really knock it out of the park. I love the slider clowns in the front. They were scary, but also really great with the kids. The idea of visiting a clown at his house is a really fun theme. I love the misdirection in the maze itself. The effect that follows is also a wonderful scary surprise. I thought the makeup is stand out. The actors really understand the art of the scare and do a magnificent job. The set design was great. It’s a good length for a home haunt. Overall an excellent, scary home haunt that I highly recommend.

BEWARE THE DARK REALM
Beware the Dark Realm is a popular home haunt in Santa Clarita. It has an impressive castle facade that you go through to enter this dark Halloween realm. The sets are well done. The actors are passionate. They make great use of their space making the path seem much longer than what you might expect from the outside appearance. It’s a fun home haunt that is clearly loved by the community. They always seem to have a good turn out for the event.
I hope you get the chance to attend Beware the Dark Realm this Halloween season. I look forward to seeing what they do next year.

13th Floor Phoenix is a large stand alone professional haunted attraction. 13th Floor is a large company in the Haunt community, often acquiring haunted attractions in cities around the United States and bringing them into the 13th Floor family. They also own Fear Farm not too far from this location. However, 13th Floor Phoenix appears to be an original haunt. The original 13th Floor Haunted Attractions are high quality and similar in style, however they are not always similar to the attractions they’ve acquired.
This haunted attraction is a high quality professional haunt. The makeup, props, sets, etc are all very well done. They have made some interesting choices playing with space and balance. The actors are good. Overall it’s a really great haunted attraction. I also enjoyed the line entertainment while you wait.
Thank you 13th Floor for having me as your guest this season. I had a scary fun time!
THE SCREAM MACHINE
The Scream Machine is a scary fun haunted attraction located in Taylor Michigan. It’s located in a mall which allows for easy parking and space for an indoor line queue. This attraction is wheelchair accessible. It takes about 20 minutes or so to go through the attraction. They also have two mini escape rooms at the end for a small up charge.
The Scream Machine does a great job of keeping you on your toes. They don’t really give you any time to relax, it’s constant scare after scare. The actors work really hard! I was also impressed by the staff here, especially when I realized the person I had been in contact with about visiting was not only running the door but also helping guests with frightened children so that the kids wouldn’t have to go inside. I love the sense of community. The Scream Machine does a good job with sets, props and costumes. They purge the line well so you don’t end up stuck in a conga line. I had a lot of fun going through. I also really enjoyed the escape rooms. I found the carnival themed game especially entertaining and clever.
Overall it’s a very fun way to enjoy the Halloween season! Thank you for inviting me out to experience it. I had a frighteningly fun time!
TERROR IN TRAIN TOWN
Terror in Train Town is a fun Halloween event by the Bloodshed Brothers at the Southern California Railway Museum in Perris California. Unfortunately I was running late and they were about to close for the evening when I arrived so I was only able to see the two walk through haunts. It appeared as though there was a few carnival style games and a ride on their midway that I missed.
The Darkness was dark and disorientating, as it should be. The Hyde Street Haunt was not especially long, but full of fun scares. I was impressed by the decor, it had a truly creepy vibe. This haunt reminded me of my childhood and the type of haunted houses that would have terrified me in my youth. It’s not a big budget event like Knott’s or Halloween Horror Nights, but rather a fun and frightening event filled with heart and passion for creating screams and laughter in the audience. I had a lot of fun and look forward to seeing what they do next year!
Windsor Scarehouse is a fun haunted attraction for adults and families. They have a wonderful location in Windsor, which is also very close to Detroit Michigan (even though it’s a different country). There are two main attractions this year: Scared Evil and Haunted Darkness (the blackout maze). I found Haunted Darkness to be disorientating, confusing and fun. I enjoyed the interactions with the actors throughout. I liked the theme of the nightmare purge in Scared Evil. I felt the use of animatronics very effective. The set and sound design were well done. The actors worked very hard and were dedicated to the scare. The costumes and makeup were great. Overall I found them both very well done and a lot of fun. Thank you to Scarehouse for inviting me out to attend your event.
Six Flags Fright Fest Magic Mountain
Six Flags Magic Mountain always has a quality Fright Fest event. If you enjoy roller coasters and haunted houses, then this event is a must see. Ride coasters all day then stay for the spooky evening activities. You can also continue to ride coasters during Fright Fest. The mazes are a small up charge, but worth it.
I’ve been to several different Fright Fests around the country and Magic Mountain is one of the top. They have more elaborate set designs in their mazes and streets, the actors are skilled, the stage shows are strong and the vibe is overall more of a fun Halloween event for adults rather than just kids and families like some of the other parks. I enjoy the passionate monsters that take to the streets and mazes around sundown during the Halloween season. They bring a special charm to this event that I find is lacking at many of the other Fright Fests as well.
The 2019 Magic Mountain Fright Fest did not bring with it many changes from the previous year, however may of the fan favorites held strong including the Nightmares scare zone, Willoughby House, Sewer of Souls and Red’s Revenge. Vault 666 returned with a bit of a facelift this season. They also did a coffin challenge this year where a handful of people stay in a coffin for 30 hours to win tickets and prizes.Overall it is a fun event for adults and families.
Thank you to Six Flags for inviting me to media night to experience this year’s event!
WINCHESTER MYSTERY HOUSE
I highly recommend including UNHINGED in your Halloween schedule! It’s an incredible event at an incredible historic location. The immersive theatrical show is a lot of fun. The 3D light show is impressive. The location is known for being genuinely haunted. What more could you ask for?
FULL LIGHT SHOW:
Fun Time Game Show Challenge at Escape Factor is one of my favorite Escape Rooms in the Midwest. I happen to be slightly obsessed with escape rooms and being a game show contestant, so two of my worlds collided in this experience. I was lucky enough to be able to book a last minute game with three strangers and fit this in my Chicago weekend trip. They were a great team of experienced players. We were able to work together to escape in time. I love the set design and props. The bright colors and familiar themes made it even more like a real game show set. The puzzles were fun and creative. I especially enjoyed the word puzzles and physical challenges. There are a few activities that are especially good for new players such as doing simple tasks repeatedly, but nothing that I found annoying or frustrating as an experienced player (like excessive amounts of math or searching). The flow of the game was spot on. The game master is in the room with you as a character. Most importantly the game was very fun! I highly recommend this escape room for all experience levels.
I also played the 30 minute doctor’s office game alone. It’s a fun, logical, clever escape room. The theme is doctors waiting room, so the set isn’t anything especially spectacular compared to their hour games. I enjoyed the interaction of the game master in character. I would recommend the game be played with two people, but doable with one. Overall I had a fun time playing the game and thought the puzzles were enjoyable.
Before leaving for the day I played the 15 minute challenge in the lobby. It’s a fun little challenge game. They also take it to fairs and festivals if I understood correctly. It’s a quick, standard escape puzzle game. It’s fun.
